Thomas Lether
Thomas Lether is a graduate of the University of
Puget Sound and the University of Puget Sound Law
School. He has been representing the insurance
industry since 1988. Mr. Lether's primary clients
include Farmers, SAFECO, Allstate, Travelers,
Progressive, Fireman's Fund and several smaller
insurers and independent adjusting firms. His
practice predominantly involves the representation
of insurance companies in the investigation,
adjustment and defense of suspected fraudulent
insurance claims. This also includes defending
insurance companies in resulting bad faith
litigation. He has been involved in hundreds of
investigations of insurance claims. This includes
lead counsel in the Pang Warehouse fire (the largest
commercial arson in Washington state history) and
lead trial counsel in Manglona v. Allstate (the
largest residential arson loss ever tried to a jury
in Washington state). Mr. Lether also represents a
number of insurers in the Pacific Northwest and the
Pacific Rim regarding first and third party claims,
including coverage disputes, adjustment concerns,
and issues involving the duty to defend and
indemnify. This includes cases and claims involving
water intrusion, collapse, construction defects and
stachybotris mold. Mr. Lether has also served as an
appraiser and mediator, and he is a frequent
lecturer on insurance related topics.
